Privacy Policy
Chatlyst is a browser extension built by an independent developer. We take your privacy seriously — which is why we designed the extension to work entirely on your machine, with no data leaving your browser.
Last updated: July 3, 2025
No data collection
Chatlyst does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. We have no servers, no databases, and no analytics tracking. We do not know who you are, what you watch, or what links appear in your chat.
What the extension does
Chatlyst runs entirely inside your browser and does the following:
- Reads links that appear in Twitch and Kick chat messages to detect supported platforms (YouTube, Spotify, Steam, TikTok, etc.).
- Makes requests to third-party APIs (e.g. YouTube oEmbed, Spotify metadata) to fetch preview data for those links. These requests are made directly from your browser — no intermediary server is involved.
- Stores your personal settings (enabled previews, spam threshold, blurred stats, etc.) in
chrome.storage.local— local to your browser, never synced or sent anywhere. - Caches preview metadata temporarily in memory during your session to avoid redundant network requests. This cache is cleared when you close the tab.
Permissions explained
The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
Third-party API requests
When a link is detected in chat, Chatlyst may make a network request to a third-party service to retrieve metadata (title, thumbnail, description). These services have their own privacy policies:
- YouTube — Google Privacy Policy
- Spotify — Spotify Privacy Policy
- Steam — Steam Privacy Policy
- TikTok — TikTok Privacy Policy
Chatlyst does not share any identifying information with these services — only the URL of the link being previewed is sent.
Revenue Blur feature
The Revenue Blur feature reads values from your Kick creator dashboard page and applies a CSS blur filter client-side. No financial data is read, stored, or transmitted by Chatlyst. Everything stays in your browser.
Children's privacy
Chatlyst does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected at all, there is nothing to address under COPPA or similar regulations.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way (e.g. if data collection is introduced), we will update the date above and notify users through the Chrome Web Store update notes.
